A documentary exploring life in the Theresienstadt concentration camp

A documentary by New Take Films and Sofia Tapinassi.

Funded by the Blue Card Organisation, 'We left the camp singing' is a documentary by New Take Films Italian pianist Sofia Tapinassi.

It is estimated that more than 150.000 Czech Jews were deported to Theresienstadt during the second world war. The majority of them were then deported to the extermination camps in eastern Europe, mainly Auschwitz-Birkenau.

The documentary explores the story of musical activities in the Theresienstadt concentration camp, a unique camp located in Czechoslovakia, where the presence of a great number of talented artists, musicians and composers encouraged cultural life to flourish despite the desperate living conditions of the inmates.

The film is currently being screened at the UK Jewish Film Festival as well as festivals across Europe.
